ALEXANDRIA BUTTERFIELD THERAPY
Registered Clinical Counselling

Amy Riding, Intern
My lived experience is colourful and diverse. In my twenties, I lost my partner to a neurodegenerative disease, which prompted me to volunteer in hospice. Consequently, I’m at ease with topics that others may shy away from, like the nitty gritty details in the end of life care. I am part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community and a late-diagnosed neurodivergent woman. Outside of counselling, you’ll find me hyperfixating on a fantasy series, flailing in my garden, or trying experimental baking.
Before my graduate studies, I worked at a large college in student accessibility, a biology lab, and within the union. My experience gave me the privilege of working in a diverse and multicultural environment and a strong familiarity with the academic experience. This work and my own experience with disability fueled my passion for advocacy, and I am currently the Vice Chair for my region’s Accessibility Committee.
Healing is not a one-size-fits-all approach, and I primarily use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy because it celebrates your individual strengths and differences. I firmly believe that you are the expert of your own life, and together, we’ll uncover the strengths and values within you and explore challenges.
If you prefer a counsellor who is sex positive, trauma-informed, collaborative, non-oppressive, and feminist, let’s see if we click. Whether you’re overwhelmed and burnt out, confused by your identity, weighed down by grief, or lost under a mask, my goal is to offer a space that you feel seen, supported, and comfortable being your true self.
