UNIVERSITY & COLLEGE
MENTAL HEALTH

University and college years can be particularly challenging. Research indicates that this period often poses significant mental health challenges due to the transition into a new environment, exposure to different experiences, and ongoing brain development. Additionally, the years leading up to and following college can introduce unique stressors, such as making major life decisions and frequently questioning, “Am I doing the right thing?”.

While a lot of counselling focuses on the academic aspect, other life events or trauma may happen during this time. It is important that therapy addresses multiple stressors and normalize that the primary stressor may change week to week. My goal is to provide a safe environment to process all of this, as well as provide coping strategies that can apply to many situations. As someone who attended university in Canada and in the United States, I use my lived experience to provide validation (and some humor) into both studying domestically and internationally
